/remote-control
diary of a programmer 122
they have now renovated the circle at Karpfenteich
there are new benches around the circumference
where a guy sits on one
a mother and her baby in a stroller sit on another
and me writing a poem on the third
the mother whispers into her phone
the guy is thumbing at his
while I write this poem with a pen
in a tiny red moleskine notebook
at home claude is working away
building engineering coding compacting
conversations while the wind rustles the branches
of the trees around us and pushes a set
of darkening clouds over us
but it doesn’t feel like rain
there is just a nice cool respite in the air
from the other days of this hottest summer
on record and from the reminder the Earth is burning
quicker every year
I just hope it stays this way I write or even better
that the headroom I’ve found through /remote-control
allows me to work from even Tenerife where I can play
padel and check in on claude in between sets
and of course I also hope claude can put out
the fires sooner rather than later but also
there are earth quakes in Colombia and wars
in Israel Palestine Ukraine Iran
and in Africa ebola is getting more rampant
due to neglect and inequality of wealth
while the US gets ever stupider by the year
